Mr. Jens Gabbe, Chairman of the Advisory Committee of AEBR met yesterday in Thessaloniki with the Deputy Minister of Interior and Administrative Reconstruction (Macedonia & Thrace) Mrs Maria KOLLIA -TSAROUCHA at her office in the Ministry in Thessaloniki, Greece. 

Mr. Gabbe is on a mission to Greece to meet with Greek officials and promote the work of AEBR in connection to the further engagement of Greek euroregions in the organizations. Euroregion Nestos - Mesta facilited the visit of Mr. Gabbe with the arrangement of a series of meetings in the Regions of Central Macedonia and Region of Easter Macedonia - Thrace.

The Deputy Minister Mrs. Maria Kollia - Tsaroucha received Mr. Gabbe with great interest and discussed with him the possibilities of technical assistance to the ministry for the creation of more euroregions or EGTCs.

Mr. Gabbe noted that AEBR could provide this support and invited the Deputy Minister to participate at the AEBR Annual Conference in September. Mrs. Deputy Minister ceased the opportunity to present to Mr. Gabbe the grave problem the Greek border areas are facing with the congestion of Syrian refugees and other immigrants who are trying to cross the border to reach other EU countries. Mrs. Deputy Minister made a reference to the hospitality and human support that is offered to these people by the Greek population.
