Σας διαβιβάζουμε προς ενημέρωση το από 13-2-2021 ηλεκτρονικό μήνυμα της Μόνιμης Ελληνικής Αντιπροσωπείας στο ΝΑΤΟ, αναφορικά με τα Διαδικτυακά Workshops 5G που προηγήθηκαν και του επερχόμενου που θα πραγματοποιηθεί στις 28 Φεβρουαρίου 2021.

1. Κατόπιν διεξαγωγής διαδικτυακά του Workshop 5G στις 8-9 Δεκ. 20 (σύμφωνα με Emails στις 4/11, 12/11 και 26/11), σας προωθώ το Email της NCIA/12 Feb με το οποίο μας ενημερώνει για την πρόθεση της NCIA για δημιουργία σχετικού ανεπίσημου Community Of Interest (COI) για τη συνέχιση των δραστηριοτήτων του εν λόγω Workshop που περιγράφονται σε αυτό.
2. Προσεχώς αναμένονται τα Proceedings του εν λόγω πραγματοποιημένου Workshop και αναφορικά με το επόμενο, παρουσιάζεται νέα προσέγγιση για την πραγματοποίησή του. Συγκεκριμένα στην ετήσια θεσμοθετημένη σύσκεψη εδώ και είκοσι έτη International Conference for Military CIS matters (ICMCIS) υπό την αιγίδα της NCIA, προγραμματίζεται επιπλέον Session που θα καλύπτονται τα θέματα του Workshop 5G. Επισημαίνεται ότι η σύσκεψη αυτή αποτελεί μία επιστημονική συνεργασία μεταξύ εκπροσώπων Κυβερνητικών, Στρατιωτικών αρχών, αλλά και εκπροσώπων της Βιομηχανίας και του Ακαδημαϊκού τομέα των Χωρών μελών της Συμμαχίας.
3. Στα πλαίσια του επόμενου Workshop 5G μέσω της ICMCIS, η NCIA αναμένει από τους εκπροσώπους που επιθυμούν τη συμμετοχή τους, την υποβολή τυχόν εκπονημένων Papers για το 5G, σε στρατιωτικές CIS εφαρμογές, σύμφωνα με κανονισμούς – κριτήρια του IEEE. Προθεσμία υποβολής εν λόγω Papers στην NCIA είναι η 28η Φεβ, προκειμένου εξετασθούν για κριτήρια ΙΕΕΕ και εφόσον κριθούν κατάλληλα, να παρουσιαστούν στη σύσκεψη και ενδεχομένως να προωθηθούν στο ΙΕΕΕ.
4. Επιπλέον λεπτομέρειες για αιτήματα συμμετοχής και διεξαγωγή σχετικής διαδικτυακά σύσκεψης θέματος θα μας κοινοποιηθούν με ακόλουθα μηνύματα ηλ. ταχυδρομείου από NCIA. Στη διάθεσή σας για επιπλέον διευκρινήσεις.

5G Workshop: follow-up & ICMCIS Conference (deadline 28 Feb 2021)
Dear 5G Workshop attendees,
A very belated Happy New Year.
Following the very interesting and productive technical workshop held virtually on 7-8 Dec 2020, and as part of the NATO work on 5G that we are conducting in the Agency, we would like to establish an informal community of interest (COI) with the 5G Workshop participants to share information, further discuss the topic of military applications of 5G technologies, and inform the community of similar initiatives.
Regarding the past workshop, we intend to circulate its conference proceedings soon. We also want to organize follow-on informal technical sessions (i.e. 2.5 hours) to address specific topics that we did not address in December or topics of particular interest, such as:
- Use of 5G technology for IT infrastructure applications;
- Engagements at 3GPP by defence stakeholders and lessons learned by the Public Safety community.
For the next workshop, we have a different format in mind. As the next International Conference on Military Communications and Information Systems (ICMCIS) will have a 5G session (recent confirmation), we invite you all to submit papers related to 5G and military CIS. Submitted papers will be peer-reviewed with IEEE criteria, and accepted papers will be presented at the conference and published at IEEE Xplore.
Papers that are not accepted for publication will not be published but may be accepted to be presented at the conference, depending on their quality, interest and agenda possibilities. Germano and myself will chair the 5G session. As per IEEE rules, there will be no conflicts of interest in reviewing submitted papers (we will be submitting papers ourselves).
ICMCIS is an international conference with a 20-year tradition, and it remains the premier conference in Europe for presenting research results related to Military CIS matters. ICMCIS will be jointly organized by the NCI Agency and the Information Systems Technology Panel (IST) Office of the NATO Science and Technology Organization as a fully virtual conference. ICMCIS Call for papers is available here. We are expecting papers from the STO IST-187 Research Task Group (addressing 5G) members. Please note that it is an open scientific conference and, as such, there will no vetting of attendees.
Final deadline for paper submission to ICMCIS is 28 February 2021.

PS: The 5G Workshop COI emailing list deals with 5G topics in the military context and encompasses representatives from national governments and armed forces, industry and academia. Some of the national representatives in that list also receive emails through another emailing list, the MN5G COI, which addresses topics related to multinational collaboration on 5G. In mathematical terms, the two sets are not disjoint.
